How to use the pitch changer
- Drop a song on the box above, or tap to choose it.
- Move the slider: each step is one semitone (one piano key). +2 moves a song in C up to D.
- Listen, compare with the original, then tap “Change pitch & save”.
Singers shift a backing track into a comfortable key; guitarists match a song recorded in a different tuning; DJs nudge a track to mix in key. Small shifts (1–3 semitones) sound the most natural.
Frequently asked questions
What is a semitone?
The smallest step in Western music: one piano key, or one guitar fret. 12 semitones make an octave.
Does the speed change too?
No. The pitch moves but the tempo and length stay the same.
Why does a big shift sound odd?
Shifting by many semitones changes the character of voices (higher sounds thinner, lower sounds deeper). Keep it within ±4 for natural results.
